Working in the market for Cora I meet people from all over the world. My favorite is when people from Madrid come in and we can talk about our mutual love of the city, but anyone really from overseas gets me pretty excited. The other week though an older couple came in from Norway. While the wife was trying on some of the dresses I chatted with the husband and he gave me the best advice.
Apparently he and his wife live on an island with 60 other people in northern Norway. On this island it gets so cold that during the winter the ocean “freezes a meter thick so that cars can drive over it.” I don’t know much about meters but I did live in Maine for four years and that, let me tell you, is pretty cold. I asked the man how they survive all winter long without going outside. He laughed and told me that they go outside and that “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.” That is the best advice I have ever heard.
So there you go Hart Beat, go out and get yourself a nice winter coat. If this man can survive Norway we can survive the Northeast.
