Feliz dos de mayo! This time last year I was approaching the end of my semester in Madrid and this is one of the days that I remember the most vividly. This day is special in Spain because the second of May is a revolutionary holiday in Madrid. There’s even a plaza in Malasaña that celebrates the hero of this day and last year my friends and I celebrated by having one big botellon in our favorite neighborhood. I remember going to get burgers on Calle de Espíritu Santo and then going to Manuelas for the celebratory mojitos. Of course there were cañas, tinto and laughing. Dios, I miss it all.
The other day I found a song by a French-Chilean rapper… yea. And I love it. It’s in Spanish and even though it’s not from Spain I feel like it’s appropriate for today. Miss you Madrid. Vale.
