Hi. Not only is today the twelfth day of Hart Beat’s countdown to Valentine’s Day but, it is also my birthday! Because today is a special day, I decided to post five of my favorite romantic songs. I hope you like them.
One. “Love is a Place” by Metric
Metric was my favorite band my Sophomore and Junior year at Bates and this is one of my favorite songs by them. I know that it’s a really short song but, it is so beautiful and true. I could listen to it over and over again all day long.
Two. “You Belong To Me” by Jason Wade
I love singing along to this song and am trying to learn it on my guitar now. I’ve never heard a more romantic song. I’m melting just listening to it now.
Three. “The Hazards of Love 4 (The Drowned)” by The Decemberists
This song is so heartbreakingly romantic that I almost couldn’t post it here. Unfortunately, it needs to be here, if only for the fact that every time I listened to it over the summer I cried when this line came on in the song:
Four: “You and Me” by Penny & The Quarters
Okay, I may be taking this song from a movie I haven’t seen, but it’s still so good! “Blue Valentine” was blogged about earlier on Hart Beat and this song comes from the soundtrack. Supposedly, Ryan Gosling requested that this song be used in the movie and there’s something so romantic thinking that he choose this song to give to Michelle. The lyrics are just so good that I can’t stop listening to it.
Five. “Your Hand In Mine” by Explosions in the Sky
If there was ever a song written about what the first kiss after a long awaited time felt like, this would be it. There are no lyrics to this song since it’s all instrumental but, I hope, as is my birthday wish, that you listen to it. I really love it.
