Good morning Hart Beat readers! This story is a little long but I promise the ending will be rewarding so please keep reading.
Back in the ye old days of high school I worked switchboard for Tanglewood. It was a pretty uneventful job. One of the perks however was that in the times where no calls were coming in I could read Stephanie Meyer (this was high school please remember) and watch as many foreign films as my heart desired.
One of the foreign films that I loved the most was The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Not only is this a great movie and a great story but, it introduced me to one of my favorite bands. Drumroll here…… Ultra Orange & Emmanuelle. Haven’t heard of it? Don’t worry, I hadn’t either, I’m not sure their domestic or international marketing budget is very big. Truth be told, I could’t even buy the cd in the US and had to import it from good old Canada. This band is amazing and lead by the greatest french woman trying to sing english since Yoko tried to sing english back when our dads rocked pony-tails.
Anyway, the band is lead by this french actress Emmanuelle Seigner who stared in movies like “Frantic” with Harrison Ford. Good times. The band is great and I love every single song on their album. I am going to share with you here two from their only existent album. The first is called “Don’t Kiss Me Goodbye” and is the song that was featured in “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” (coincidentally a film that Emmanuelle Seigner started in) and “Sing Sing” because it is imperative that you see this woman sing (also where can I get a turtle neck dress like that?)
