New Vintage Finds by Quinn Casa

Sad times, Hart Beat. I didn’t win the powerball. Even though a tiny part of me prayed desperately to not win when I first bought my ticket (I like my life OKAY?) most of me was wishing that I would cash in big. Why? Because then I could buy all the vintage pieces sold by Quinn Casa. I’ve written about them before on the blog but thought I would share a few of my favorite pieces on the etsy site now… Which ones are you eyeing, Hart Beat? I call the mirror up top!

I’m 😍😍😍 (goo-goo eyes) for Levis

Ohhhh Hart Beat. I’m starting to realize that my days of biddie skirts and skin tight pants are behind me. I dress differently now than I did at 21. Okay, maybe this isn’t a surprise. I still have my iconic scarf collection and am still wearing mostly black (some things can never change) but all in all, the garb that I threw on every day in college has transitioned into something more… comfortable or classic as I would prefer. The realization has come slowly but surely over the years and has been cemented recently when I discovered I was borrowing Pedro’s clothes more and more.

I’m taller than Pedro but even so, he and I generally wear the same size in clothes. Aside from sneakers (because I don’t have a death wish) I borrow most of his things, including his Levis—for the legitimate boyfriend jean look. I realized it was time for me to invest in some of my own vintage Levis and I was in luck a few weekends ago when I walked by a pop-up space in Greenpoint that had exclusively piles and piles of vintage Levis. As you can see below, there were lots to pick from and lucky for me the owner of the store helped me pick out a bunch. I had one of Pedro’s pairs on at the time so I could show him the effect I was looking for in the pants. After about five minutes BOOM, I had my perfect pair.

These bad boys are short in the length so I can show my shoes (YUP) and slowchy enough to constitute boyfriend jeans. (#lifewin) Are you with me in the boyfriend jean boat, Hart Beat? Do you have a place you like to buy vintage Levis? Does my butt look good in these pants? Jkjkjk, you don’t have to answer that, I know I’m rocking the mom jean here.

Quinn Vintage and Found

Hola Hart Beat. Last week I came across (still not 100% sure how, probably while I was searching for bedside tables) the BEST Etsy shop I’ve seen in a long, long time. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to share it with you. The shop is called Quinn Vintage and Found, a vintage seller based here in Brooklyn, NY.

Now let’s be real, Hart Beat, in no universe an I afford to spend $500 on a Vintage wood framed circle mirror, no matter how much I want to. That doesn’t mean that I can’t dream about having all of these beautiful, vintage, mid century, one of a kind stylish furniture decorating my three bedroom in Fort Green. Oh Hart Beat, aren’t I hilaaarious. In fact, this vintage/antique furniture looks so good that I would love some more. After discussing this with a friend, they recommended the antiques world website; I will definitely be spending some time on their later…

For those of you who want to join me in this indulgent dream shopping, check out the Etsy account here or you can follow along on Quinn’s Instagram account. Happy day dreaming, Hart Beat!

People of 2morrow (aka how to shop on Instagram)

Hi Hart Beat. Let’s talk. Where do you find your favorite clothes? A friend of mine texted me yesterday asking where one could find non ridiculous onesies for the summer and to be honest, I was at a loss. And no, Hart Beat, it’s not because I’ve stopped shopping (what kind of world would that be) it’s because I’ve started shopping… on Instagram.

Pictoresq: Ma oui bien sur!

Hola Hart Beat. Hallelujah amen sister friend for the sun being out in Brooklyn today. It’s making my work so much more bearable. A couple weeks back on of my favorite bloggers Miss Moss highlighted the beautiful french online magazine and shop Pictoresq. The site highlights designer and vintage clothing with the ever hoped for french styling twist.

I love the photographs that they take for the website. The mix of vintage and designer is so well mixed together and the french scenery makes me swoon. Too bad we don’t live in France, Hart Beat. Maybe someday?

I want that bike. Can i have it?

On Vacation, Like Gwyneth

Oh Hart Beat, it’s raining in Brooklyn. Horrible, cold rain. My bike hates it. In lieu of shivering from my ride tonight, I thought I would do some planning for my mom and my trip coming up this February. Have you seen the movie “The Talented Mr. Ripley“? I hadn’t seen it until recently and if you’re looking for a creepy, but intriguing movie that takes place in the most beautiful parts of Italy and has a cast that ranges from Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Jude Law to Philip Seymour Hoffman, and, of course, Gwyneth Paltrow then look no farther. I love her style in this movie. It’s the 90’s take on the 50’s wealthy american living in southern Italy in the best way possible.

And as an end note, this great behind the scenes photo from the movie…

Vintage inspiration: The 80s

Hola Hart Beat. I can’t believe today is the last day of the vintage series! I suppose I could go into the 90s and even early 2000s but, lets stop while we’re ahead. Happy Thursday everyone! And remember, dress to impress never settle for less. Right C?
