The Philadelphia Story - Hannah Hart Beat

Four Internet Things for You

The Philadelphia Story - Hannah Hart Beat

Evening, Hart Beat. How was your Sunday? For me, it was a lazy day here in Maine. I played tennis with my aunt, took a (perhaps too long nap), and made dinner for me and my Grandmother. Tonight, I’ve just been poking around the internet and thought I’d share a few things that I’ve seen recently and really enjoyed. I think you might like them too, Hart Beat.

  1. The 25 Best Flims of the 21st Century. So Far. According to The New York Times.
There are obvious choices like There Will Be Blood and Moonlight but a few that surprised me. How many have you seen, Hart Beat?
  2. Nail art from Chillhouse on Instagram.
The new wellness coffee shop and spa in New York, founded by beloved Cyndi Ramirez of Taste the Style, is owning my post-Brooklyn Instagram right now. I’m screen grabbing almost all the nail looks to take with me into the fall.
  3. The Most Intimate Photograph in The New Yorker.
Not only is the photograph alarmingly beautiful but I love what writer Chris Wiley has to say about it.
  4. Scandals of Classic Hollywood: Katherine Hepburn’s Trousers from the archives of The Hairpin
I just rewatched one of my favorite movies, The Philadelphia Story, which stars Hepburn as the wittiest socialite you’ll ever find. Of course, immediately I went online reading after and thank goodness because never have I read a more scandalous Hollywood tale.

Talk tomorrow, Hart Beat.

Summer love in New York

Hi Hart Beat. Some of you might have seen this but The New York Times is pulling this great series called “Summer Love” that I thought you might like to see. The paper is requesting couples to submit summer love stories that they have experienced in New York, for however long, or short amount of time. Not to overdo this but, I love this idea.

So far the Times has pulled together about a dozen features on couples of all kinds. I’ve had the best time reading through them and thinking about all the ways to fall in (and sometimes out) in this city. As much as I love so many cities in the world (Madrid, Boston, Amsterdam, Portland), New York really has the most romantic feeling about it. I think it has something to do with the vastness and the sheer number of possibilities. On any given day you could run into your soulmate, the most romantic bar you’ve ever seen or into a heart-wrenching public breakup on the C train.

This video here is one of my favorite stories from the series. Summer = roller coasters and love = a roller coaster (see what I did there?). I’ve been thinking about submitting Pedro and my story to the paper. What do you think, Hart Beat? Have you found love in New York before?
