Ghosts that we knew

It’s been beautiful fall weather in Brooklyn lately so I’ve been taking some nice really long runs. It’s been nice to listen to entire albums all the way through on a run and besides my favorite classics like Tommy and Taylor I’ve been giving the second Mumford & Sons album a serious listen. My favorite song out of the album is this one posted bellow and I thought you might like to hear it, Hart Beat.

But hold me still, bury my heart on the coals
But hold me still, bury my heart next to yours

Dancing on my own

Hey Hart Beat. My friend Kristy shared this song with me the other day and I thought you would like it too. My senior year at Bates the original Robyn song was really popular and it’s really nice to hear a mellow more hartbeat-esque version now. What do you think? You a fan of Kings of Leon?

As far as I can see

A couple days ago I shared this song by Phantogram with you, Hart Beat. I was on one of my favorite sites, Big Ugly Yellow Couch tonight and found this hauntingly beautiful acoustic cover of “As Far As I Can See.” I thought you might like this one too, Hart Beat.

You know I can’t let you slide through my hands

Hi. How was your weekend, Hart Beat? I’ve been practicing my guitar a lot lately, and tonight is no exception. I’m so happy to be in my apartment tonight looking out over the east river at Manhattan. Rough life. Anyway, I wanted to share one of my favorite songs to play with you tonight.

“Wild Horses” by The Rolling Stones
Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady
You know who I am
You know I can’t let you slide through my hands

I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you’ve decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or off stage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

I know I’ve dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don’t have much time
Faith has been broken tears must be cried
Let’s do some living after we die

Wild horses, couldn’t drag me away
Wild horses, we’ll ride them someday

Happy late august friday

Happy Friday Hart Beat! You have any plans for the weekend? I can’t believe it’s the end of August right now. It feels like it happened all of a sudden and I’m so sorry to see summer go. Here’s a little summer song for you sung by the multi-talented Carla Bruni.

Some say love is a burning thing

I found this song the other day and now I can’t stop listening to it. Are you surprised, Hart Beat? I’m not. I love that the first couple lines are in reference to Johnny Cash. I mean, the lyrics in general are amazing in this song. It’s perfect for a Friday night. What do you think, Hart Beat?

Some say love is a burning thing
That it makes a fiery ring
Oh but I know love as a fading thing
Just as fickle as a feather in a stream
See, honey, I saw love,
You see it came to me
It puts its face up to my face so I could see
Yeah than I saw love disfigure me
Into something I am not recognizing

Since I met you, darling

Hi Hart Beat. One of my favorite memories from growing up was my mom teaching me how to dance. One minute she would be cooking or writing and all of a sudden one of her favorite songs would come on our old CD player. Next thing I knew she would crank the music an lead my brother in I in a waltz until we could be lead anywhere. Sam Cooke came on at work today and it made me remember that. Sarah Horne was right, there’s nothing better than a waltz. Here’s one for you, Hart Beat.

P.S. For more romantic soul check here and here. I could listen to this all night long.
