Daydreaming of the ocean

Screen Shot 2015-06-10 at 2.33.27 PM

Oh Hi Hart Beat. Blurg, Wednesday is here. Is it just me or is this week dragging by? Last weekend I went to visit Orient, Long Island with Marina and Carolyn and I’m still thinking about how amazing it was to be on the ocean.

I love living in Brooklyn but one of the things that I don’t love is not living right on the ocean. Sure, my new neighborhood is right by the bay but, not quite the same. Especially when you can’t go swimming in the water. So if you, like me, are missing the ocean or really just the outdoors in general here are some Instagram shots from what I took this weekend (the top photo!) and a few by others so you can dream with me.

Heart it races

Oh Hart Beat, don’t we all wish we lived on the coast of somewhere wonderfully warm? I’m wishing it especially today while I can see another winter blizzard starting right outside my window. My mom and I are heading south in a couple of weeks but I can’t wait until then. I love this Architecture in Helsinki song “Heart It Races” and the other day I found out that Dr Dog does an amazing cover. Even better? This video bellow features the song amongst beautiful surfing scenery. Yes please.

P.S. Beach waves all year long. Am I right?

A dream ocean house

Hi Hart Beat. Isn’t this the most beautiful house you’ve ever seen? The house, like all epic estates, is named Clingstone. How appropriate, right? The 103 old house is perched on a small island in Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay. The house has 23 rooms on three stories that all radiate off a center hall. Even better, there are ten bedrooms that all have beautiful views of the ocean. These pictures are unbelievable, I’m in love.

Sail away with me honey

Hi Hart Beat. I’ve been doing some day dreaming lately and I thought I would let you join me. A friend of mine is spending the fall and winter sailing up and down the east coat in his new (old) boat. I’ve been trying to find a time to join in on the fun and after hearing that he’s going to the Caribbean this winter I think I might have made my decision. So, what does this mean for you Hart Beat? It means that today we’re going sailing… on the blog.

I know this is not what the boat looks like but a girl can dream.

Ocean smell

I was walking by the Hudson river earlier today with my boss and for a quick minute I had this overwhelmingly strong smell of ocean water. It made me miss Maine and summer so much. The good news is one, I can hear tugboat sounds from my bedroom in Brooklyn that remind me of being on the north coast and two, in ten days (yikes) I’m going to be seeing big blue with my own little green eye.
