Hi my Hart Beat. One of the things I love about this time of year is all the new music that is released. This week we were hit by the new Lorde album and today I spent some time with it seeing how our girl has been doing. It was a melancholy day here on the island. I did lots of writing but, the sun has nowhere to be seen these past two days and that’s probably why the song that I loved the most off of Melodrama was the sad “Liability.” Have you heard it yet, Hart Beat? It’s what I’m listening to tonight while I write to you. I hope you like it. And, if it’s too sad you can always go back to our favorite Miley after.
Hola Hart Beat. Thanks again to this week’s new Discover Feature in Spotify I found another song that you might like to listen to. At least I’m enjoying it over here on this slow moving Tuesday. This song by Cate Le Bon came out in 2013 with the release of her studio album Mug Museum. Clearly I was not on the ball because I’m only now hearing this song, “Are you with me now?”, for the first time. What do you think, Hart Beat? You like? Had you heard of Cate Le Bon before?
I don’t care what the mainstream media is saying about this summer lacking an official “summer anthem.” While most major news media can’t decide on what 2015 summer means to all of us sitting on the beach and drinking beers in the parks, I have a bold claim to make on the subject. The 2015 summer anthem is here and if you don’t like it then that’s your problem, not summers. “Déjà vu” came out this late spring to screaming fans (at least I was screaming) celebrating Giorgio Moroder’s return to the dance and electronica scene.
For those of you not familiar with Giorgio’s work, NPR had a great interview with the composer a few weeks ago that is definitely worth a listen. In this new(ish) single, Giorgio partners with the pop-icon of the decade, Sia, in a song that is both addictive and dance worthy. What else does a summer anthem need?
If you are familiar with my taste in music (plug here for the official Hart Beat playlist) then you will definitely love this song. And take to twitter people! Let the public know that the official 2015 summer anthem is here and it is ready to be enjoyed by the masses. Unless you disagree, which I would be curious to hear. Oh and P.S. the official video for the song (see below) is amazing.
Hola Hart Beat. The new True Detective trailer song has me on internet search high alert right now. I finally found some info and, lucky you Hart Beat, it’s all compiled here. Before I start though, here’s the backstory. last night Pedro watched the new Game of Thrones episode (obviously) and I was introduced to this new mystery song that has made me go down the rabbit hole of the internet into a song obsession. You know, like any normal casual Sunday night.
What sparked this new search and rescue mission was the trailer for season two of True Detective that played before the new Game of Thrones episode started. The trailer is a little teaser of the new season coming out this June and features a hauntingly beautiful and sad (just my favorite kind of song) in the trailer. I knew it was extra good when Pedro heard it playing from the kitchen and asked immediately what it was for.
After researching the song across all edges of the internet, I came across this post by Bustle. Apparently I’m not the only one obsessing, Hart Beat! There are others out there! As you can read in Bustle, unfortunately this song by Lera Lynn was created specifically for the show and therefore, has not been released to the general public.
I’ve run into this problem with HBO Go before (hello Jenny Lewis on Girls) and am hoping that the song is released soon. Until it does you can join me in listening to this amazing youtube creation of the trailer bit of the song on loop. Thank you internet and your other obsessors. Thank you.
Hi Hart Beat. How’s your weekend going? It’s was such a beautiful day today in Brooklyn and I’m looking forward to meeting some friends in Prospect Park for a belated Dos de Mayo picnic. Sometimes on weekends I forget I’m in the city (and it’s secretly amazing). This morning NPR First Listen posted the new album with The Tallest Man on Earth and I had to share it here with you.
The Tallest Man on Earth has been here on Hart Beat before with his earlier albums but this month the artist will release his fourth studio album entitled Dark Bird is Home. I haven’t listened to him in a while but this Sunday is the prefect time to play catchup. The album doesn’t come out until May 12th but lucky for us NPR First Listen is streaming the entire album which you can listen to here. The site also has a great review of the album and if you’re interested I recommend reading the whole thing. I would love to hear your thoughts Hart Beat.
