Hiya Hart Beat! Happy Friday! I won’t pretend that I am living a hard life up here in Maine but that doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate a good Friday like the rest of the world. To celebrate, let’s turn to Frank O’Hara and see what he has to say about drinking, writing, and life in general. I particularly love the last line of this poem. Get out there dancing tonight, okay Hart Beat?
As Planned by Frank O’Hara
After the first glass of vodka
you can accept just about anything
of life even your own mysteriousness
you think it is nice that a box
of matches is purple and brown and is called
La Petite and comes from Sweden
for they are words that you know and that
is all you know words not their feelings
or what they mean and you write because
you know them not because you understand them
because you don’t you are stupid and lazy
and will never be great but you do
what you know because what else is there?
Hey Hart Beat. It’s FRIDAY!!!! I’m sure you’re equally excited as I am. Work this week has been super busy now that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I’m lucky that I love my job so much so that even when it’s super stressful I’m still incredibly happy and feel so lucky to be working for such a great company. This Friday, instead of five articles I’ve loved reading this week, here are a few things that deserved their own posts this week but then didn’t because I was too busy. Here’s to hoping next week gets to you more, Hart Beat.
1, Got this song in my Discovery Weekly on Monday. Um yes. Spotify, how did you know I love acoustic covers of pop and rap songs? #mustbedata
2. The piece “The Running Novelist” in The New Yorker about a bar owner turned author and runner was so inspiring.
3. Aziz Ansari’s new Netflix original show “Master of None” is AMAZING. I love every detail of the show, especially that it looks like the whole thing was filmed in my old neighborhood in Greenpoint. The bars he goes to are the ones I used to haunt and I love that. P.S. Terri Gross interviewed him this week and it was equally awesome.
4. I found my new love in Snapchat. Follow me by searching for hannahshazam.
4. I went home last weekend to the Berkshires and took some photos for Instagram. Take a look in case you’re craving a trip to the country right now.
Hey Hart Beat. We did it. We made it to Friday. I don’t have any articles this Friday but I do have a great video that I want to add on to the discussion of this whole Taylor Swift 1989 stuff. If you don’t know about it here’s a run down. TSwifts album 1929 came out last year to rave reviews. This year, the indie/country singer Ryan Adams covered the entire album, song by song, all the while reinventing the tempo and feeling of each song. In response to Adams’ cover, our favorite meta artist Father John Misty covered one of Ryan Adams’ covers of Blank Space. To make it even more confusing, apparently Father John has removed the cover from Soundcloud because Lou Reed asked him to in a dream…
Anyway…. yesterday on Facebook I saw that Todrick Hall (an MTV star) covered a medley of Taylor Swift songs to an amazing result. I can’t get enough of it and it reminds me how much I love Taylor Swifts songs in the best way possible. Hope it makes your Friday as bright as it’s making mine!
This week. THIS WEEK. It’s over and that is all I want to say about it right now. What are you doing this weekend, Hart Beat? Pedro and I are staying in Brooklyn since we both try and avoid Manhattan like the plague on the weekends. I’m hoping to take a nap one of the two days and hopefully get a bike ride in. Simple times.
If you’re around and want some things to read here are five articles that I found super interesting this week. See you Monday, Hart Beat!
Heyyyyy, Hart Beat. Another week and another Friday (gracias a dios). What are you doing this weekend? Pedro and I are going to spend the day in Red Hook on Sunday and I’m super excited. It’s a great neighborhood and apparently there’s a taco place that we have been wanting to try. Until Monday here are five articles that I loved reading this week. Hope you like them too, Hart Beat!
We did it, Hart Beat! We made it to the end of the week. I am so happy because, as I detailed before, my best friends from high school are coming in and we’re having an entire weekend in Brooklyn. For those of you who are headed to the beach or have some traveling time, here are five articles and links that I loved reading this week. Hope you all have an amazing weekend!
HAPPY FRIDAY, HART BEAT!! We did it, we really, really did it. The week has come to the end and now it’s finally time to enjoy some of the beauteous summer weather we’re having (maybe take a well deserved nap?) and see friends that are all so busy during the week (myself included). I hope you all have slam dunk plans for the weekend and until Monday, here are some reads that I loved this week. Luego, Hart Beat.
Oh Hart Beat, today is making me so, so, so happy. When I heard the news this morning about the Supreme Court ruling I honestly started crying at work. I was surprised by my intense emotional reaction but the more I thought about the decision and what this means for so many people I love and how much this means to all the men and women out there who have fought for the right to love. I wish I could be dancing out in the streets but instead I’m sitting in my office listening to this great playlist pulled together on Spotify. So much love out there right now, Hart Beat.
Besides the incredibly happy news that’s radiating through the country right now, here are the five articles that I loved looking through this week. Enjoy, Hart Beat! And happy PRIDE too!
Hi Hart Beat. Happy Friday! Do you have any plans this weekend? Pedro and I are heading up to visit my parents for the weekend and get in some good time away from the city. Have I mentioned that summer is my favorite time of year? Anyway, until Monday here are five articles that I loved reading this week and I think you will too.
Hiiiii Hart Beat. Happy, happy Friday! What are you doing this weekend? Pedro is off to Miami for the newest Solexchange (he started it with some friends a few years ago!) and my mom is coming down to stay in Brooklyn with me. It will be our job to watch the dogs. Melo and Bandit are in for a spa weekend (don’t worry Pedro, they’ll be fine). Tonight I can’t wait to drink some rosé on the roof of Eataly. Can it be six o’clock now?
Until then, here are my five favorite articles that I read this week. It’s kind of a travel / life / inspiration combination. Besos, Hart Beat.
