Wedding Guest Dress Help

Hannah Hart Beat

Hi Hart Beat! Long time no talk! How’s your February going? Did you see the news about six more weeks of winter? Woof. Although, to be completely honest I’m not that surprised. It is only February after all. I’ve been writing away the last few weeks (TBH #NoPlanJan was a FAIL) but I still got just about the entire first draft of my book done. This month it’s all about the edits baby.

Aside from the book, there’s been something else distracting me on the internet. And I need your help Hart Beat! I’m so excited because this spring I have a few events (cough weddings) I’m going to and I need suggestions on where to get a dress. Last fall I went to a wedding in Vermont and wore a great dress from Reformation but it’s black and the weddings this year are in the spring so I’m not sure black is the best. Plus, isn’t it bad luck to wear black to a wedding? Halp meeeee.

Anyway, since last summer I started doing yoga every day my body has gone through #changes and I’m not sure it’s the best dress anyway for me right now. So, send me your recommendations! Where have you gotten dresses for weddings in the past? I’m not wanting to spend Ulla Johnson money but am looking for something a little more than Asos. I’ve been hitting all my staples like Madewell and Sézane but nada at the moment. Maybe it’s too early? Comment or message me your favorite brands and I will be forever grateful 🙏🏼.

P.S. Both these dresses here are said Ulla Johnson 💸😭.

Prairie Clothing Company

Hi Hart Beat. Happy Saturday! I hope all of you lovelies are staying warm and toasty wherever you are. I took a wonderful walk this morning, as Frances McDormand says, “And it’s such a beautiful day.“Anyway, let’s move on to better and warmer things.

A few days ago I stumbled on the beautiful photo bellow on my regular Pinterest roundup. What I didn’t know is that the dress is designed and hand-made by a fellow Berkshire County resident. Jeni Leigh, the amazing woman behind all the dresses featured here, lives just across the NY State border from where I grow up and works as a French teacher at the local private school in the area. After studying her Etsy page and blog, I am now such a huge fan that next time I go home I’m going to try to meet with her and talk about the Prairie Clothing Company.

My idea of the perfect dress is one that is sexy yet classy and not overly provocative. A woman can wake up, put on a PCC dress and boots, play with her horses and then change her shoes and add some pearls and go on a date.

My god, as soon as I get Aquarius Made up and running this is the kind of artist I want to represent. Not only do I love every single one of Jeni Leigh’s dresses but the photographs featured on her Etsy store are equally breathtaking. The poses are so natural and refreshing and I love that they are all taken in the county I grew up in. What do you think, Hart Beat? What is your favorite dress in the collection?

I like subtle sensuality. And that’s what this line is.

All I can think about when I see these dresses in this photo are Elizabeth and Jane Bennet frolicking through the English countryside.  I want in.
Thanks Rural Intelligence for the great article featuring Jeni Leigh. For more information visit the designers blog here.

My oh my, dress details

Hi Hart Beat. Happy almost Christmas! I love this time of year, and I especially love being home seeing my family and their new puppy. One of the best parts about Christmas is that it means New Years is right around the corner. For the past few New Years Eve’s I’ve been celebrating in Brooklyn, but this year I’m really excited to head up to Boston for the night to celebrate. Last week I got a dress to wear, and oh Hart Beat, it’s the kind of dress that I dream about. I don’t want to show you the whole thing lest ruin the surprise, but I will show you a great detail it has. The New Years dress I got is thrown in here with a bunch of other dress detailing I love. Happy almost Christmas Hart Beat!

French style wedding gowns

Even though Hart Beat is a blog based on all things romantic, very rarely do I post about weddings or wedding ideas. I kind of have to break that streak though because the other day I came across these amazing french bridal gowns (thanks Jo) and I can’t stop thinking about them. I think I want one to just wear around the house Friends style. What do you think?
