Instacrush: Lucy Rose Laucht

Lucy Rose Laucht

Hi Hart Beat! Like I wrote about the other night, I’m all about escaping this god-forsaken and freezing city right now. Instead of trudging outside into the dark to see La La Land again, I’ve lost myself deep down in the feed of my most recent Instacrush, Lucy Rose Laucht aka @lucylaucht. If you like Instagram accounts of beautifully shot beaches, camper vans and romantic cliff sides (and who doesn’t really?) then you’re gonna love her.

I’m not sure how Lucy made her way into my feed but since I’ve started following her I’ve also become obsessed with her current life situation. I mean, read this from her website about me,

A Brit in New York by way of Australia, I’m a writer and photographer with a taste for world wandering. I left the rainy shores of England some nine years ago for a year long, round-the-world backpacking adventure where I met my soul mate at a noodle stand in Bali and never really looked back. My now-husband and l are currently at home on the road in La Guaguita, a (sometimes functional) 1985 Volkswagen Westfalia camper on a road trip across America in search of the interesting people & off-beat places that inspire us to get out and see the world.

Lucy, you are living the dream! Like seriously how can we get to the level of “living your best life” that this amazing woman is at? Le sigh. I guess we’ll just have to strain our thumbs going back further and further in her feed. Right, Hart Beat?

Sail away with me honey

Hi Hart Beat. I’ve been doing some day dreaming lately and I thought I would let you join me. A friend of mine is spending the fall and winter sailing up and down the east coat in his new (old) boat. I’ve been trying to find a time to join in on the fun and after hearing that he’s going to the Caribbean this winter I think I might have made my decision. So, what does this mean for you Hart Beat? It means that today we’re going sailing… on the blog.

I know this is not what the boat looks like but a girl can dream.

For the weekend, please don’t go

Hi Hart Beat. How’s your Friday going? I’m headed off to my cousin’s wedding in Long Island for the night. I’m excited for the wedding but I wish it weren’t snowing here… Whatever Brooklyn. Before I head out I want to share with you a song I’ve been really into lately. It’s good right? I get such good chills around two minutes into it.

Please don’t go, I’ll eat you whole
I love you so, I love you so, I love you so

A dream in spain

All day long I’ve been thinking of this dream I had last night. And surprise, surprise, it was about my favorite place in the world. Madrid. In the dream I was dropping my brother off for a semester abroad at the IES center in Madrid. The dream was scattered (obviously… it was a dream) but I remember very clearly seeking out Maria José and Angel to say hello again. It all was extremely real and emotionally raw.

Of course, I woke up this morning to realize that the map of Spain that hangs above my bed had fallen down to lay on top of me in the middle of the night. I was literally being covered by the country in my sleep.

Sandy escape

As I’m sure you’ve heard, hurricane Sandy is barreling it’s way to the east coast. My home in Greenpoint was listed as a zone A area in New York aka meaning I needed to evacuate. They’re closing the Subway and MetroNorth at seven tonight so I had to come up with a plan pretty fast. I had a couple of offers in the city but, one of the great things about living in New York is that my home in the Berkshires is not that far away. So here I am! Blogging to you safe and sound in front of a fire in my living room sitting on the couch next to my mom. What are you doing to survive hurricane Sandy?
So to distract all of you out there on the east coast from the storm thats brewing, let’s talk about one of my favorite things. I’ve always told people that I’ll know I have it made when I have a fireplace in my bedroom. What do you think? That sounds pretty amazing for the winter to me Hart Beat.
