Emerson Fry does it again

Hey Hart Beat. As many of you loyal readers know, I have a healthy(?) obsession with Emerson Fry the New York City based clothing line. Everyone of her pieces is so simple and beautiful. I wish I could wear her clothes exclusively all the time. The Fall/Winter 2013 collection was released earlier this month and I can’t stop drooling over the pant/coat/show combinations that this talented woman puts together. What do you think, Hart Beat? You an Emerson fan too?
This shirt. These pants. Oof.
What I wish I could look like every time I leave my apartment.
Hello darling.
This metallic skirt. I want it.

Packing and planning

Hey Hart Beat. So… I leave for Spain in four days (eek!) and I’m already in trouble. Why you ask? I’m about to do some dangerous shopping while in the mother land. Since my Dad and I are biking the first halfish of my trip, I am bringing a very, very limited about of clothes. I was going to buy some new shoes from vessifootwear.com
but I don’t think I can fit them in my bag!! I can literally count the items on two hands. And just in case you Hart Beat, ever bike through Spain, here is an excellent packing list: 1. bike/helmet 2. biking shorts 3. biking shirt 4. biking shoes 5. bathing suite (what up Spanish beaches) 6. dress 7. sandals 8. camera (über important, eh?) 9. journal (hi marina) 10. yoga pants

Yup, that’s it. No joke, my bag is the size of a scuba oxygen tank (the best comparison I could think of).
I know what you’re wondering Hart Beat. What does any of this have to do with my situation? Here’s your answer, I HAVE to go shopping when I finish the ride in San Sebastian/Barcelona (still don’t know yet, whateves.) That is the best order I’ve ever heard. And since I’m so excited about shopping in my favorite country, I have been doing a little research before I go to see what kind of things I should be looking for. Come join me, Hart Beat, in this fantasy shopping spree.
Naguisa shoes.
Since I’ve resisted buying these and these, I’m going to reward myself with new espadrilles from Spain. What? I work in fashion?
An Olivia Burton watch.
ba&sh tops.
Faliero Sarti scarfs.

Friday night date inspiration

Hey Hart Beat. I have another date tonight in Williamsburg and I’m trying to get my outfit together. Since I’m going to Spain next week I’m trying to get my clothes in order and packed so this is creating a bit of a situation…. I thought I would share some beautiful photographs for others out there since I’m in a bit of a wardrobe funk. Can you help?

Swedish dreams

Hi Hart Beat. I’m sitting in my favorite Williamsburg coffee shop Konditori before work and am in a Swedish mood, whatever that means. Maybe it’s because I’m in a swedish coffee shop or because I’ve been seeing these babies all over Brooklyn lately.

When L. was here over the weekend we walked by a store in my neighborhood to see a row of Swedish Hasbeens perched along the window display. She knew as soon as she saw them that I wanted them. Oh L, how right you were. I have been debating getting a pair for a while now and the only thing holding me back is the idea that I’ll be immersed in Spanish espadrille land in two weeks. Must resist… for now.

Aquarius Made: Summer cool

Hey Hart Beat. How’s your night going? I may or may not be finally watching Nashville on this rainy Thursday night but I still want to share some photographs with you. Internet daydream shopping is the best, isn’t it? Join me, Hart Beat, in a search for the best summer outfit in all the internet land.

BB Dakota

Hello Hart Beat! How’s your Tuesday going? Today is my day off and I’m getting so many things done in my apartment. Listen to this: I cleaned the kitchen today and then I cooked a chicken in the oven. For a girl who never knew how to make a scrambled egg or do anything with a mop, I am turning into a domestic goddess. Who am I and what is New York doing to me?

What today’s post is really about though, is my newest clothing obsession. Have you ever heard of BB Dakota?

I have a couple of their pieces and they’re the kind of things that you can throw on anytime and look instantly pulled together but secretly be extremely comfortable. Luckily, my favorite boutique Dalaga carries most of the new BB Dakota line as soon as it’s released so I can get my fix. I just love the general general aesthetic and swoon over most of the pictures BB Dakota pins on Pinterest and posts on Facebook. The other great part about the brand is that it was originally created and is now run by a mother-daughter team. I love that.
They’re entire brand is pretty summer oriented (especially right now) and I love it. I am so excited summer is finally here. I really missed the sun. Too bad California didn’t win my heart over, I could live like this forever.

Summer outfit envy

Hey Hart Beat. This week I’ve been re-organizeing my closet and putting away my winter clothes now that summer is finally here in Brooklyn. I’m also going through my closet and getting rid of a lot of clothes from college (and high school) that I will never wear again. Now that I have so much storage room in my apartment closets I’m hankering to go shopping. What do you think of these outfits? What’s that? You already sent them to me? You are so sweet, Hart Beat.
