Hannah Hart Beat

A Mixtape for October

Hannah Hart Beat

Evening Hart Beat, how are you? I can’t believe that it’s already the end of October. The weather has been so bizarrely warm that I keep having to remind myself that next month is November. December is only one month away! One of the great things for me this year is that I’m actually able to enjoy the fall and holiday season. For the past five years, I’ve worked in e-commerce and this quarter is always the craziest. I remember this time last year I was working non-stop to get Food52’s holiday work done. This year, I get to enjoy the weather and look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas like a normal human being.

I thought tonight I would share with you dear readers six songs that I’ve been listening to pretty much exclusively for the last few weeks. I’ve added them all as well to the official Hannah Hart Beat playlist on Spotify if you also want to hear the songs previously on the site here.

To date, there are 269 songs on that playlist totaling seventeen hours and forty minutes of listening time. I know this blog has been chugging along for five years but that still seems like a banana amount of music. Lately, I’ve been putting the playlist on shuffle in my car while I drive around. It’s crazy how many memories I’ve tucked away in each song. Each time a song comes on I can pinpoint exactly where I was and what I was feeling when I added the song to the playlist. Some memories are sad, others funny, others reek with nostalgia, others (still) make me want to dance, and others are heartbreaking. Every single song I still can sing along to every word and each one puts me back to such a specific time and feeling that I was there was a word to describe the sensation. It makes me wonder what, a year from now, how I will feel when I listen back to these songs posted here.

Happy listening, Hart Beat.

  1. The Walker Brothers, I Can’t Let it Happen To You

  2. Broken Social Scene, Sweetest Kill
  3. Lada Gaga, Million Reasons
  4. Miley Cyrus, I Would Die For You
  5. Lord Huron, The Night We Met
  6. Jim Croce, Operator [That’s Not The Way It Feels]

P.S. The photo up top is from one of my all-time favorite movies High Fidelity which is all about making the perfect mix. You should watch it if you haven’t seen it, Hart Beat. I may or may not be watching it right now.

  1. Love this! Listening right now and I know I’ll have these all on repeat. Have you listened to “Faufile” by Charlotte Cardin or “Young, Dumb, Broke” by Khalid or “No Goodbyes” by Leon? All high on my list lately. xo!

    1. Posie hi! Thank you so much for the songs—they all are so amazing and right up my alley. Send me more songs! Miss you xoxo
