Morning Hart Beat. How’s your day going? It’s hot here in New York and I am completely overdressed. I seriously need all summer dresses (anyone have any suggestions?)
This post isn’t about fashion though, I promise you’ll have your fill by the end of the day. Instead, I have to tell you about an app that has completely changed my life for the better this spring. Over the winter I signed up for the Brooklyn Half marathon, even though it had been a long time since I really ran on a regular basis.
I figured that the race would be a great incentive to get back in the game. Well Hart Beat, I was right. I forgot how much I love running and one of the things that has kept me running is not only Pedro’s reminder that the race is quickly approaching, but a running app that I downloaded.
The app, by Nike, is simply called “Running.” The premise of what it does isn’t so revolutionary I guess but for me it’s a big incentive. The app uses GPS to track your distance and pace and will give you verbal updates as you run. It’s great for keeping track of your mileage and time (as long as you’re not one of those Ron Swanson types who hates the universe knowing anything about you.)
This may sound crazy, but one of things that has kept me going everyday has been the check mark and achievements that I collect in the app. There’s a great half marathon training program and it keeps track of your progress to the race. I sound obsessed but sometimes I run because I don’t want to let the app down! Pedro laughed at this but I don’t think it matters. Whatever gets you out there is a good thing in my book.
