Hi Hart Beat. Happy Monday morning! Or not, either way, last week I hear this amazing interview with the new editor in chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, Joanna Coles. I’ve never been a huge reader of Cosmo but after hearing this interview, now I feel like I might need to start (or at least keep my eye on Joanna Coles interviews/publications.)
In the interview Joanna speaks about the contemporary “Cosmo woman” reader and the importance of speaking to feminist ideas in a traditionally “girly” magazine. What she speaks about is something that I often think about: how to negotiate being a strongly independent woman without losing my feminine side. Listen to the interview and let me know what you think!
“And I don’t like that contraception is called, or labeled as, a women’s issue. Contraception is a couple’s issue. Men like having sex, too, and men don’t want to have to have a baby every time they have sex. In fact, if you presented them with that option, they would never want to have sex again. So I think it’s important that we frame this in terms of both men and women.” – Joanna Coles
