Fall braids

Hey Hart Beat. Over the weekend while working at the Williamsburg market I notices many European tourists with elaborate hair braids. Since my hair has gotten super (too?) long I’m trying to adopt more of these intricate braids into my fall wardrobe. They’re tricky Hart Beat, but I think I’m up for the challenge. What do you think? What’s your favorite hair brad secret?

Oh Drew, you’re so pretty!

Sweetheart I already miss you

Hi. How’s your Sunday night going, Hart Beat? I felt like a little romantic music tonight to offset the horrible Breaking Bad outbreak that is about to hit the internet. You with me? This is one of my favorite songs to play on the guitar and I finally found a decent youtube version of the song for you.

“I Already Miss You” by The Kooks
You know I hate talking on telephones
I’m so sorry it’s just my way
And now that I’m a little older
There’s so much to you I’d like to say

Babe I already miss you
Sweetheart I already miss you
Sweeteyes I already miss you
And you only just walked out the door

Dear future home…

Hey Hart Beat. Happy Saturday! I’ve been daydreaming at work about my some-day house and so I thought I would flush out some images here with you. I grew up in the country(-ish) and have always fantasied about living in an old converted barn… on the ocean… in the berkshires… with the weather of Colorado… and the culture of Madrid. I think I need to keep dreaming. Either that or take Mars for myself before anyone else gets there for the water. You wanna come, Hart Beat?

P.S. Now all I can think about is my favorite Bowie song. Enjoy, Hart Beat.

Marina Pecoraro rings

Hi Hart Beat! I am so excited to write to you this Friday about one of my favorite artists in New York City. For the past year I’ve been working at Artists & Fleas in Brooklyn and Manhattan. While working at these young designer markets I have come to know many talented designers and artists, but none of them hold a candle to Marina Pecoraro.

As those of you who know me personally, I am not a jewelry person. Other than my Olivia Burton watch, I rarely where much at all. When I met Marina, all of this changed. I’ve been wearing her rings for over a year now. I literally never take them off. I wear them sleeping, running, swimming, biking, seriously everywhere.
I get compliments all the time on my rings and I just had to share Marina’s talent with all you out there. Oh, and in addition to making beautiful delicate rings, Marina designs and hand makes beautiful necklaces and bracelets. For every single one of my friends and family’s birthdays this year I got them a piece from Marina. They all wear them everyday.
So if you’re around Brooklyn some weekend or in the mood for some online shopping, I couldn’t recommend these rings more!

Ghosts that we knew

It’s been beautiful fall weather in Brooklyn lately so I’ve been taking some nice really long runs. It’s been nice to listen to entire albums all the way through on a run and besides my favorite classics like Tommy and Taylor I’ve been giving the second Mumford & Sons album a serious listen. My favorite song out of the album is this one posted bellow and I thought you might like to hear it, Hart Beat.

But hold me still, bury my heart on the coals
But hold me still, bury my heart next to yours
“Ghosts That We Knew” by Mumford & Sons
