Hey Hart Beat. How are you doing these days? I’ve been working this week a ton between the Chelsea Market Pop-Up and editing our new website and blog for cora ny. Tonight, per usual, I’m typing away at my desk looking out at the empire state building. Rough life. A day in the life of the hart, I guess.
I’ve posted a couple of notes written from Johnny Cash to his wife June Carter. I love the way this man writes to June, so simple and so full of absolute love.
Hey Hart Beat. What did you think of last night’s song? Tonight I have another sad but beautiful one for you. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of The Avett Brothers. Maybe because I’ve been playing that “If it’s the beaches” song over and over again. This one is good too. And it’s about Brooklyn. Bam, two for the price of one.
Over the summer, my roommate Hannah and I were obsessed with finding the perfect little boat hat. Unfortunately, neither of us has been very successful. The good news is that I have replaced my obsession with my favorite little black hat. At work earlier I came in wearing it and someone assumed I was from the South. Whoops. The hat comes from Stockbridge and at least that’s the country, sort of…
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything about The Tallest Man on Earth. Well, you’re in luck Hart Beat. Tonight’s a little surprise for you. Here’s a beautiful cover that I couldn’t find anywhere other than youtube. Happy Saturday loves.
Good morning Hart Beat. How was your Friday night? My roommate Hannah and I had a fun time in Williamsburg and I wanted to share some pictures with you all out there in the internet world. My amazing friend M. from study abroad now lives on the lower east side with a good friend and last night her roommate Morgan preformed her senior year dance piece at Public Assembly. I had seen her piece, “Last Chance for Bronze,” preformed by Morgan and others at Conn College last spring and I was so excited to hear that she was preforming it again in the city.
Hi. I have some great photographs to share with you this Friday. Today I was working at my favorite Chelsea coffee shop called Think Coffee and I saw the most amazing series of photos. I know that usually coffee shops don’t have the best artwork, cue the hilarious Portlandia sketch, but I was really struck by this collection.
The specific pieces that I saw are part of a series called “Portrait of a Pilgram.” All of the pictures in this collection were taken by Michael George in his month long walk of el Camino the Santiago de Compostelo across northern Spain. Since, as you at Hart Beat are well aware, I have a healthy obsession with Spain I was amazed to see these captivating images. I haven’t walked the camino but it’s a dream of mine and these pictures made me want to plan the walk for next week. I think I’ll have to wait a little bit but, with the inspiration of Michael George, I can imagine the walk in vivid colors and images now.
For more info on the extremely talented photographer Michael George, visit his website here. Check out his section of instagram pictures. They are so cool and definitely are going to be highlighted in their own Hart Beat post soon.
Hey Hart Beat. First of all, I want to apologize for stoping this years Valentines Day Countdown. I’ll get back to romantic things in New York soon, I promise. As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, this year for my twenty-third birthday, my mom and I are going on a warm weather vacation. We technically leave this Saturday but I’m going to take a little break from blogging early.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this but this year for the week I’ll be sunnin’ and funnin’ this February, I’ve decided to take a seven week hiatus from all things digital. This means no internet, no phone and a break from all of the lovely but distracting apps that come along with an iPhone and the internet. So, see you later for now Hart Beat. Have a wonderful Valentines Day lovely readers and I will see you in a couple of weeks!
