Rise up with fists

I really don’t know what it is about the end of September but I definitely have been feeling myself tugged back to a lot of earlier posts I wrote when I first started Hart Beat. Walking down memory lane over here Hannah I guess. Anyway, once I wrote about a great song sung by the amazing Jenny Lewis in the band Rilo Kiley. Today I want to share one of my favorite songs that Jenny sings with the Watson Twins. One time I saw the Watson Twins live with Garrison Keillor. It was amazing. The end. I hope you like this song.

What are you changing?
Who do you think you’re changing?
You can’t change things,
we’re all stuck in our ways.
It’s like trying to clean the ocean
What do you think you can drain it?
Well it was poison and dry long before you came.

Subway fashion

Now that I’ve been in New York for a couple of days and am finally moving into my own apartment, I have been riding the subway ALL THE TIME. Way back when this blog was first started in January of this year, I wrote about how much I loved the subway because it reminded me of Spain. Now I really love it because I can see what everyone is wearing for fall in the city.

New Mumford & Sons

I have exciting news Hart Beat!!! There’s a new Mumford & Sons album out!! And I signed a lease on an apartment in Brooklyn today!! I don’t know which I’m more excited about. Either way this is going to be an amazing fall and I can’t wait to listen to this album over and over (which I hear is better than their first record album) in my brand spanking new apartment. I’ll give you some more updates soon Hart Beat, but for now, listen to the amazing sounds of these guys right here:

Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
Bow my head
Keep my heart slow

Cause I will wait for you,
I will wait for you

“Oh you are coming”

Here’s a romantic poem for you readers. I can’t believe summer is over and it’s fall already. Thank god, fall is the best season ever, right?

Oh You Are Coming
by Sara Tisdale

Oh you are coming, coming, coming,
How will hungry Time put by the hours till them? —
But why does it anger my heart to long so
For one man out of the world of men?

Oh I would live in myself only
And build my life lightly and still as a Dram —
Are not my thoughts clearer than your thoughts
And colored like stones in a running stream?

Now the slow moon brightens in heaven,
The stars are ready, the Night is here —
Oh why must I lose myself to love you,
My dear?

Le petit marseillais shower gel

While I was traveling back in June I spend a hefty amount of time on the southern coast of France. While C. and I were in Marseilles we stayed with the cutest woman in the extra bedroom of her apartment. I will never forget Alliet or her beautiful apartment but I also won’t forget the best French shower gel that she introduced me too.

The brand is called “Le Petit Marseillais” and the brand makes all kinds of products. My favorite is the body gel, I love it so much that I want to go back to France just so I can get some more of it. Luckely, for both me and you dear readers, I’ve found a website that lets you order the magic stuff. My favorite scent is “Lait de Vanille.” It leaves you smelling freshly of vanilla (my favorite smell of all time) and feeling very french. Two wins in one.
