On the road

There have been a lot of good movies out this summer, the new spiderman was amazing, go see it. But that’s not really what this post is about. This post is about the new movie “On the Road” based on Jack Kerouac’s famous book of the same name.
I haven’t read “On the Road” since early high school so I can’t really say how true to the book this movie looks. I can say however that it has inspired me to go back and look at the old beat poetry and prose and get really excited to see the film adaptation. 
Because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones that never yawn or say commonplace things, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars…

Stop Seven: Montreux

After taking the most scenic train ride of my life, C. and I arrived in Montreux Switzerland. Montreux was the most beautiful place I have ever been in my life. It’s a little town on the edge of one of the lakes in Switzerland and over the lake you can see the Swiss alps in the background. After checking into our hostel I had one of the most amazing runs and swims ever. I hope the pictures do this place justice.

Weekend trip

Hola Hart Beat! This is my first blog post on the road so please bare with me. I’m in New York city this weekend visiting some friends (including a reunion with C.) and after spending three weeks in the berkshires I forgot how nice it was to be in a city. I feel like I’m back in Madrid with all the cafes and people in the street.

Speaking of cities, I have some exciting life news to share with you dear readers soon. I’ll be posting the news soon so keep posted.

New passion pit

Oh hey there. I know I’ve been posting a lot of music here lately but, theres something about summer that makes me so excited to listen to new songs while I’m out driving my car. Here’s a new one for you by the band Passion Pit (famous from their song “Sleepyhead” and a cover of the Cranberries song “Dreams.”) Anyway, the have a new album out this year and here is one of my favorite songs from it.

Usually I say something to accompany songs posted here on Hart Beat but this one doesn’t really need explanation. Somebody introduced me to The Civil Wars back in December and I’ve been listening to their album “Barton Hallow” a lot recently. This cover of “I want you back” is my favorite and I keep listening to it over and over again.
