Let’s talk about Mad Men

Mmmm, I’m obsessed. This shouldn’t be very surprising as I commonly reject real life and live my life vicariously through television characters (clear eyes people and a true heart right here). I am certainly not losing (see what I did there?) but this post is not about the Taylor’s or a certain Mr. Timothy Riggins, that’s for another time. This post is dedicated to Mad Men.
Mad Men was recommended to me by about two hundred people before I actually broke down and watched it. Like all good TV shows (word out to Arrested Development and Will), this one takes a couple of episodes to get into it. Once you do however, be prepared for some witty banter and some rockin’ sixties times.

THIS JUST IN: bippity boppity boo

My roommate introduced me to a great blog this past semester at school. It’s called bippity boppity boo and she and I have been obsessed with it since we started looking at the pictures. Here are two that I really liked that do cool things with old maps. This definitely got me thinking.

Thursday… style?

Today is Thursday, and that means, you guessed it, the style section of the NY Times! In honor of this very very important day, and in honor of my pledge to distract myself (I wrote two sentences and read a book? that counts?) I want to give a shout out to one of my favorite New England retail stores, Second Time Around.

I have never entered Second Time around without leaving with at least one item (French Connection dress, H&M skirt, sequined hat, denim jacket old navy circa 1992 style… the list is endless). Anyway, if anyone ever finds them selves lost on Newbury Street with 20$ or aimlessly walking around Portland, ME or Portsmouth, NH please go.

Lana, hey girl

About a month ago someone introduced me to the new singer Lana del Rey.

Since I first heard Video Game I have not been able to stop listening to her voice. I discovered a bonus during finals and became equally obsessed with her video for “Blue Jeans.” I wish I could live in this video.

The dreaded day

I’m joining my towns gym today for Christmas break. Joder this is one of my least favorite days… getting back on that exercise train. To procrastinate I went to my favorite secret (not so secret) blog. The Hairpin. Here’s something hilarious for everyone in need of a good book for Christmas break to look at… Or people like me who refuse to read their Thesis books. Waaaa.

The article: What Old Book Do I Read If…?

My favorite part is the chart. I’m always thinking about what diseases I might have.

Winter solstice time

Tomorrow is the winter solstice, which means that this is one of the driest times of the year in New England. In celebration of this date I have put together a list of necessary items to use until spring comes again.

Burt’s Bees Radiance Body Lotion is my favorite lotion for the winter (excluding Lubriderm of course). Not only does it moisturize but it also gives your skin a nice sparkly glow. Definitely necessary when the sun sets at 4:00 pm.

Another winter necessity for me is a good lip chap. Jane Iredale makes the best that I have found and I definitely cannot leave home without it.
