A guest blogger for the early new year!

Now, I have very mixed feelings on Zooey Deschanel. While she broke my heart in 500 Days of Summer, I still can’t get over her faux-hipster charm or disarming voice. In honor of the things I do like about Ms. Deschanel, I’d like to share this ditty that she (and her costar from Summer) just posted about the upcoming festivities to bring in the new year.

Winking and Jungle Drumming

Once upon a time I had to teach a friend how to wink. We were in Granada (sigh) and I told her it was pretty much like blinking but keeping one eye closed. I’m not sure if it worked but I really liked this video.
And here is another song that I have been obsessed with! Viola, two great things at once. Bam.

(Video is great by the way)

Pioneers! O Pioneers!

I know this video is for a Levi’s commercial but, I have been obsessed with it for a couple of years now. I love the video and I love the poem so much more. After coming across the commercial sometime in high school I researched where the voice over comes from and I actually found the entire poem by Walt Whitman from “Leaves of Grass” voice recorded.

Here is a video recording by The University Players. (Hint: you can also buy the single track on iTunes)

Movie pick: Young Adult

This if my favorite time of the year, well except spring, and fall, and February. Sooo, whatever. Anyway , this is a great season: Oscar Season. I just say Young Adult, a movie out with screenplay written by Diablo Cody (same as Juno) and staring Charlize Theron. I was a big, big, saw it five times in the theater fan of Juno. Needless to say I was very excited.

The trailer is good, no? The movie was good too, sad but usually sad is the best thing.

Attitude on feet

In July this past year I bought a pair of Frye boots. I know, it’s a big move. I had been looking for ages for the right pair to buy. Having admired many the Frye boot, I decided on the Frye Harness 16R and honestly I have to say I never take them off, really, just ask my roommates.

I have two recommendations for these boots. One, buy them on zappos, then you can order two or three pairs to find the right size and send the rest back. And two, get some knee high socks. Seriously, all other socks ride down and are as annoying as an itch you can’t scratch on your back. (Hot socks are my favorite, here are some… knee high socks.)
